Public Education
Fire Extinguishers – Kitchen Safety – Fire
Drills – Kids Page – Hotel Safety - Recalls
Public education is the key to reducing the
number of fires and fire related injuries or deaths. Our education
program spans all age groups. From pre-k to nursing homes, we
provide the latest data, tools, and literature to inform the public
of the dangers of fire and the steps they can take to reduce the
likelihood of becoming a statistic. During the month of October, our
program reaches out to almost every type of school in Tomball, and
even a few just outside of Tomball.
Using our Public Education trailer, we can
take our show on the road and create an atmosphere that resembles
most houses. The idea behind our trailer is to allow participants to
experience an environment that is similar to what they could be
faced with at home. The trailer is a 33ft. RV that was converted
into a safety house. Volunteers removed all of the exterior graphics
and the inside bedroom components. We added bleacher style seats in
front, bench seats in the kitchen, and a bed in the rear. The
restroom was converted into command post, with controls for the
electronics and communication system. The stove, sink and fridge
were also left in tack to allow us to teach the importance of
kitchen safety.
