Inspections
The Fire Marshal’s Office takes a proactive
approach for fire safety by conducting
annual fire inspections that address the
most common causes of fire. The inspectors
are guided by the locally adopted fire code
and ordinances which guide them during the
inspection process. We utilize International
Code Council – International Fire Code (IFC)
2006ed. and NFPA Life Safety 101. A simple
checklist is used that outlines the most
common fire code issues for which we are
looking. The inspection program was designed
to educate the business owners with measures
they can take to reduce the risk of a fire
and make their building safe for their
employees, customers and the firefighters.
Business offices, grocery stores, gas
stations, hospitals, day cares, doctor offices, department stores,
nursing homes, apartment buildings, schools, foster homes, and
places of worship are just a few of the types of occupancies that we
inspect.
We also perform inspections on all new fire
suppression and fire detection systems. We put the systems through
acceptance testing in accordance to NFPA guidelines. Testing of
